Reasons why my dog is constantly digging?

September 15th, 2009 7 comments

Sandie asked:

I have this dog and won’t stop digging? Why is she doing this? Could it be she is bored?
She has dug out twice,(going to the neighbors) and I have to constantly keep an eye on her when she goes out.(house dog). What should I do? Any suggestions? Thanks!
She’s a Black Lab.
There is two other dogs that I have and she plays w/them, and toys. The other two don’t dig. This is why I don’t understand her? Your help is appreciated.

How do you stop a dog from digging holes in the backyard?

September 15th, 2009 13 comments
Lorry asked:
How do you stop a dog from digging in the yard? My dog digs a hole to get under the fence to escape the backyard. I do not own this house and the guy is trying to sell it. He will not be happy if he sees holes by the fence. I have blocked the area with rocks, but he just moves over and starts digging. We have tried punishing him, but he just doesn’t get it. HELP or I will have to give him away and that is a TOTALLY last resort. Serious solutions, not feedbacks from idiots who have no life.

How do i stop dog aggression?

September 14th, 2009 3 comments
Jake asked:

I have a 3 month old pit bull/American bulldog mix. I take him everywhere i go and he sees new dogs everyday. Since last week, every time he sees a new dog his hair stands up and he growls and barks and sometimes tries to bite their neck. I am getting him neutered as soon as possible and taking him to puppy classes next month. Is there anything else i can do to help stop his aggression?

How do you stop dog aggression on a leash?

September 14th, 2009 5 comments
Jim asked:
Socialized in a 6 week puppy class at 10 weeks old. He plays with other dogs of all ages at the barn, but was fearful of them at first. Now he is part of their pack. Very friendly with people. Gets excited when he sees other dogs during our walks, but should that dog look at him or bark, the aggression starts with the hair raising and growling/barking. He is kept on a loose leash during approach, but as he lunges of course I have to pull him back. He is kept at the heel position during walks. Have tried to keep his attention on me but no luck. I tell him to “leave it” and keep walking but he doesn’t let it go. I am afraid of making it worse if I reprimand him. He is a 9 month old neutered Ger. Shep. Appreciate your help.
