How to stop a compulsive barking dog?

Angel asked:

I have a lot of traffic in my home. One of my 3 dogs barks every time someone comes in. I’ve tried shock collars and spray collars. Both worked for a short while, but she started barking gain. This dog has been through training, and minds well except for the barking. I’m at wits end.
I might add I run a business out of my basement. People walk in so I am not with the dogs. They are behind a gate that, even though they could, they don’t jump, but one of them does all the barking. What to Do?

    stop a dog from digging

I have a barker too and she is also a puller on the leash :(
Mine is 10 months old and I am still trying to train her the best I can. I recently used someone elses idea and got a season of the Dog Whisperer from blockbuster. Boo me if you must. I have seen all of the Its Me or the Dog shows so I thought I would give Cesar Millan a try. He gives good tips I watched it yesterday and even today on our walk I was able to keep her from pulling…part of the time. You can give it a whirl. There were also episodes about compulsive barkers. It may help and Good Luck.
What type of dog she and how old?

    dog barking training

Never hurt the dog to get what you want!!!!!!
When the doorbell rings, get the dog to sit, and stay. Don’t open the door until she does. If she gets up while you are opening the door, shut the door, and get her to sit again…. Keep doing until she gets it. When it works give her a calm pet and praise (not to excite her) and a small treat. Tell the person to give a pet, but not to much attention!!
    Good luck

someone once told me to fill an empty soda can with coins or something that will make loud noise
    tape the can shut
then toss it (Near, not AT) your dog whenever they bark
